Purina Cat Treats Whisker Lickins

Store purchased and homemade cat treats

Just like us humans like receiving treats or rewards I can assure you cats like it as well. Some times might be part of a training process the reason why you would treat your cat or some times you just like spoiling your furry pal. Whatever the reason is, there are plenty of choices for your pet when it comes to cat treats. I’m sure you have seen them at the grocery store, pet store or best electric hand mixer the cat’s food. You can even find some free cat treat samples at some stores like Petsmart sometimes. Specially when they are best crabgrass killer.

Here you can find the best shoes for shin splints when you jump a lot.

In case you didn’t know there are also homemade cat treat recipes that you could easily make yourself at home. I would say both ways are good but buying them will save you time in case you are a busy person and you have no time of preparing the cat treats yourself. I probably make them homemade treats about once a month. It’s a way of rewarding them because they just love it. I’ll give you an easy to make recipe at the bottom of this post that my cats really love and I hope so do yours.

I am not going to say I have tried every brand and flavor out there, well not me, my cats lol, but I do have tried several hoping to find the favorite cat treats my kitties approved and that would also give them some sort of health benefit.

I have 3 cats and what some of them like is not the case with the others and viceversa, I’m sure you know how that goes in case you have several cats. I tested some brands and flavors until I found the ones that would be approved by all three. And I’m talking about flavor wise and consistency wise. I found out that mine like the chewy cat treats way better than the crunchy ones. I was glad to find out that all three were at least consistent on that aspect.

Flavor wise I tried turkey, liver, chicken, salmon, tuna and I can’t remember what other flavors I might have tried. They pretty much liked all of them but they particularly like anything with salmon and beef cat treats.

Once I detected which flavors they loved I went ahead and read the nutrients label in order to find the ones that could help my kitties in any sort of issues they might had,i.e. bad breath, hair balls, joint problems, etc.

Luckily my cats are very healthy overall, knocking on wood, therefore I picked the cat treats that were supposed to help them with their hairball problems. Two of my cats are long haired and you know how painful it looks and sound to see your hairy friend going to the process of expelling hairballs. it is not a major problemwith them but I wanted to try to help them out a little bit with that matter.

The brand of cat treats mine chose

There are several brand that target this cat problem but personally I found that Whiskas’ Tempations line is the one that all of my 3 cats liked,I should say LOVED! Besides they are not very expensive compared to other brands so that is aplus as well. Anyhow,  everytime they know they need to get rewarded for something they did well they will come asking for their respective treats. Which is the best signal that they just love their cat treats. For some reason my cats just didn’t like much the Friskies cat treats that I bought them. Nothing against the brand but is just something I noticed.

Sample on how to make cat treats by yourself

For this cheese cat treats recipe and you’ll need:

  • 3/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup of yogurt
  • 4 tbsp of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup of yellow cornmeal
  • 3/4 cup of flour
Procedure: You just need to combine all ingredients in a medium size bowl. I like doing it by hand but you can also use a stand mixer for mixing dough if you have one. keep combining until you get a dough consistency and roll it out to a 1/4″ thick roll. Then cut them into 1″ pieces and place into a baking greased pan and bake for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees Farenheit. Let it cool and let your cats enjoy these cat treats.
